National rankings and age groups
Athletics New Zealand publishes national rankings which are updated each week throughout the season. Only those performances that are made at inter-club meetings (like open meetings and hot meets in Auckland) and championships where there are graded officials, electronic timing and wind speed recorded are listed.
Performances must also meet the standards that are listed below:

Age groups are all calculated according to your age on 31 December of the track and field season:
- W16 | Female athletes aged 16 years or younger
- W19 | Female athletes aged 19 years or younger
- M16 | Male athletes aged 16 years or younger
- M19 | Male athletes aged 19 years or younger
